The rise of working from home has transformed daily life for millions of people. What began as a necessity has become a preferred way of working – offering flexibility, comfort, and control over our environment. However, as remote work continues to evolve, so does the conversation around wellbeing, connection and how we shape our day – including the growing need for a change of scenery for remote workers.
For many people, home has become the office, the break room, the meeting area, and their social space. And while it can be convenient, it can also feel a little samey.
This is where the idea of a change of scenery has become more than a luxury – it’s becoming a form of self-care for remote workers.
The quiet reality of Working From Home
One of the biggest misconceptions about remote work is that it’s entirely blissful: pyjamas, snacks, flexible hours, pets, peace and quiet. And yes, it can be all of those things!
But the quieter side of working from home is exactly that – very quiet.
Many remote workers experience:
- Repetitive routines
- A sense of being stuck indoors
- A lack of spontaneous conversation
- Blurred boundaries between work and rest
- A drop in energy or motivation
- Feeling of isolation
None of this means someone dislikes their job – it simply highlights that humans are wired for connection, variation and gentle change.

Why a small change of scenery for remote workers is so effective
A shift in environment – even a small one – can refresh perspective, boost creativity and break the monotony of the work week.
It doesn’t have to be dramatic. In fact, the most effective changes are often simple.
- Grabbing a coffee somewhere different
- Working in a new space for an hour
- Chatting with someone who understands remote life
- Stepping out of the house before starting work
- Seeing a few friendly faces
These little resets remind us that the world is bigger than our laptops and living rooms.
And for many home-workers, that’s exactly what’s missing!
Community without pressure
Another huge shift we’ve seen is the desire for social interaction that isn’t networking.
Remote workers can often crave:
- Human interaction
- Conversation that isn’t work-centred
- Relaxed environments
- Spaces where they don’t have to ‘perform’ professionally
- The simple act of being around others
Not a business-card kind of event, not a workshop, not a productivity session.
Just people being people!

Creating space for this kind of connection
Inspired by this need, we’ve started exploring ways to bring remote workers together in a much softer, lighter way. Nothing too formal, nothing structured – just a calm morning meet-up that acts as a gentle change of scenery.
Here’s the idea we’re introducing:
- A relaxed arrival with a warm drink
- Laid back social time – no agenda, no expectations
- Optional work time – bring your laptop, only if you feel like it!
It is designed for people who enjoy working from home but recognise that doing it everyday can make the world feel smaller.
It’s not about selling something or building a network. It’s about restoring something that remote work can quietly take away: Communication, variation and community.
A new way to support remote workers
As remote work becomes a long-term lifestyle for many, we believe that conversation needs to move beyond productivity and ergonomics. It needs to include wellbeing, creativity and social connection too.
A gentle meet up
A shared space
A few friendly faces
A meaningful morning reset
These things aren’t big things – but for many remote workers they make a big difference.
The bigger picture
If you work remotely, you deserve environments that support not just your productivity, but your energy, mood and sense of belonging. A change of scenery for remote workers is more than a break – it’s a way of reconnecting with yourself and with others.
Whether you join one of our meet ups or simply find your own version of a morning reset, we hope you give yourself permission to step out, breath and take a moment that’s just for you.
